CSI Laboratories, a leading cancer testing and diagnostics laboratory that serves pathologists, oncologists and community hospitals, suffered an email breach. The email breach was discovered on July 8, 2022.
According to HIPAA Journal, a total of 244,850 patients in Alpharetta, Georgia had their protected health information (PHI) exposed. This cost an estimated $4,379,617 in loss of data and reputational damage for CSI Laboratories, according to eRiskHub.
The Data Breach Contained the Following PHI:
- First and last name
- Dates of birth
- Health insurance information
- Patient numbers
