We’re thrilled to shine the spotlight on Ty Anderson, one of our Backend PHP Developers at VGM Forbin. Ty has been an integral part of our team since August 2023 to help build robust websites for our clients. Ty’s passion for programming and dedication to excellence make this employee spotlight well deserved.
Ty’s journey began almost a year ago, since then, Ty’s been tirelessly working on the backend, ensuring that our websites run smoothly and efficiently. Whether it’s fixing bugs, implementing maintenance changes, or installing new sites, Ty’s hands-on approach and problem-solving skills have made a significant impact.
We interviewed Ty and this is what Ty had to say
-
Explain to me your role like I'm 5: If you think of a website like a car, my job is to work on the engine! If the car isn’t running well or there’s a check engine light on, I’m the one who looks under the hood to fix it. Sometimes I do small jobs, like changing a filter, and other times I do bigger jobs, like installing a part or rebuilding part of the engine.
-
What's your favorite thing about your job: My favorite part of my job is the development team. Don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot I love about programming itself, but a good team can be hard to find. Everyone on the dev team does amazing work, is always looking for ways to improve, and wants to help create something they can be proud of. I really appreciate that about them and it motivates me to do my best.
-
If you could write a book, what genre would it be? Probably a technical or how-to book on a subject I’m passionate about. I enjoy figuring out how things work and helping convey what I’ve learned to other people in a way that’s easy to follow and understand.
-
Cats or dogs: I love most animals, but when owning and caring for them, I’m partial to cats.
-
What's your go-to productivity trick: I often like to start on and complete smaller tasks before I jump into bigger ones. I feel like doing so helps me gain momentum and puts me in a good headspace to tackle the bigger stuff, especially if that bigger task is something new that I might not be as familiar with.
-
If you could instantly become an expert at something, what would it be? Parenting. My kiddo is almost 3 years old and I could use all the help I can get!
Here’s what a colleague had to say:
Justin Berning said, “Ty consistently prioritizes our clients’ interests, whether addressing a service request or spearheading a project. Ty’s exceptional ability to grasp their requirements results in the delivery of superior products that perfectly align with their expectations.”
Ty, thanks for your outstanding contributions to VGM Forbin! Your dedication helps keep our engines running, and we’re lucky to have you on board.
